The Galt City Council appoints committees of volunteers to address city issues.
The committees are advisory only. One such committee is the Youth Committee. Each of the five council
members appoints one member from a list of citizens that have submitted a letter of
interest. The committee members are sworn in and serve for the remainder
of that council member's term. Each committee operates under a set of
approved by-laws. They vote for officers to perform the duties necessary.
Minutes are taken, approved and submitted to the City Clerk's office.
Reports are made at regular city council meetings. This is an excellent
chance for students to polish their public speaking skills.
The 19th June, 2007 Youth Committee report

Cindy Rodriguez is a sophomore at GHS and quite active with the Youth Committee.
She gave our report to the Galt City Council. This was her first time at
public speaking. She did very well and the audience applauded. Cindy
is another example of the many outstanding youth in Galt.
