The weather was perfect and Independence day made this a long weekend for Galt.
Take a look at some of the exhibits of commercial vendors and charities that
supported this great event.

Andi (10) is really enjoying playing with the small kitten at
the petting zoo. What a big beautiful smile. The zoo was put on by
Herald Boy Scout troop 28.

This shows the booth at the very start of the 2006 Galt
Festival.

At times the line was quite long with Galt residents anxious
to enjoy the Galt Festival.

The Galt Area Historical
Society was represented by Gladys Brown. She is formerly known as the
Spaans cooky lady. Information was available about the various activities
at the McFarland Living History Ranch,
such as kite
day.

Londa Downing is showing "Sky" who is the star of the reading
program at the Marian
O. Lawrence Library in Galt. This is a program to use animals to
assist children to learn to read. The program is off to a good start and
has 2 classes per week.

Ione resident, Dave Knox, set up his wonderful slot car racing
track. This may have been the most popular event of the entire show.
There was never a time that nobody was there. Often, one couldn't even see
the track because of all of the people crowded around.

Ally Payne (3) is petting a goat at the petting zoo.

JoAnn Forbing of Remax was very busy. Not only is she
manning her real estate booth, but she organized the entire non-profit exhibits
in the Chabolla Center. Kim Hentschel was the raffle winner of the BBQ
picnic basket.

Karla of Dr. Nguyen's (DMD) dental practice. This office

B 'n' G Klean offers magic stain removers. The owners

Marcus (8) was nice enough to show me how the radar can clock
his soccer kick. The under-15 soccer group was raising money for uniforms
and tournaments. We wish them success.

represented by Marlina Johnson.

Mia King is getting painted up for the Galt Festival.
They are raising money for the soccer team.

Mia (again from above), Carlee (15), Brittany (14), Lisette
(14) and Angelysa (15) help raise money for the team. Boys, watch
out, these cuties will break your heart.

That broom is called a lefielo in Lesotho (pronounced Lesutu)
and is from the country of Lesotho in
Africa. The demonstrator is Debbie Weber owner of His Creation. She
recently visited Lesoto and will tell very interesting stories about the
culture.

Janette Glissman and Gary Long are collecting sponsors for the
education of children of Lesotho.

These three cheerleaders certainly do exude plenty of cheer.
They are part of the Galt High School cheerleading team. They are raising
money to go to cheerleading camp. They are Michelle Tokunaga (14), Jackie
Rosales (16) and Kristyn Galarte (17). I hope that you make it.

This was the most unusual ride at the 2006 Galt Festival.

Madeline Lemieux (10) is getting "painted" by Caroline Ross of
New Hope Pre-School.
209-745-9121 Caroline had a constant stream of children getting various
items painted on an arm or face. I was "too old" to get painted.

This gentleman won first place for something. I couldn't
write fast enough to catch it. Many awards were handed out.

Papa's BBQ was cooking and the delicious smell brought me back
for a tasty sandwich. Recommended highly.

Sons of California motorcycle club members Leo "Griz" Conner,
Clay Lowe, "Bingo" and "Little John" served beer for the thirsty at the 2006
Galt Festival.
