Matt McCool (William's uncle), and Kati Vaz (artist).
Tile Painting
Kathleen Amos, Parks and Recreation mans the tile painting table as
Tracy, Courtney, and William Legg paint tiles that will be fired in a
kiln, then combined in a frame and used to decorate the park.
Kathleen feels it's important for kids to feel plugged in and this is
a great way for them to be a part of the park.
Jesse Morales, 12, contributes his painted tile .
Raffle Table
Martha Lomeli from Migrant Ed, and Josh King, handed out free candy,
reading books, tooth brushes, and toothpaste, while they sold raffle
tickets for $1.00. Martha and her sister, Rose Ovalos (not
pictured), have adopted the park.
Anti-Gang and Drugs
Alfred Romero showed the video "The Hard Road to Prison" and was
available to discuss the dangers of getting involved with gangs and
drugs. He worked for the San Joaquin County jail for two years,
supervising the work detail. Courtney Legg and Stevie Taraya
stopped by the face painting booth before watching the anti-gang &
drug video.

Puppet Show
The
New Harvest Church performed a puppet show on graffiti twice
during the day.
Playground Equipment

The play-ground equipment at the park was so damaged
and vandalized with graffiti that it had to be removed. The
residents who use the park have the opportunity to review equipment
catalogs and make recommendations for the replacement equipment they
prefer.
Future park equipment users, sisters, Maricela and Hilda, and their
second-cousin, Ramone.
Recycle
Remember to RECYCLE.
The city provided a dumpster as encouragement to keep Galt clean;
within two days, it was full. Thanks to all who participated!
