Emerald Vista Park

By Duane Ausherman

Emerald Vista sub-division was the first on the "east side" of Galt.  It was done by Mike Guttridge, a well respected local developer.  The term "Emerald" has become his trademark.  The park was a fortunate requirement of the permit process.  Local residents have a very nice park to enjoy.

This photo shows the joy of kids in a sack race that is typical of small town America.

Micah (9) was the winner of the first race.  The closest boy (name unknown, please let me know it) can be seen in the air on one of his many big jumps.  The kids had so much fun in this sack race business.  The ones I asked had never done this before.  This is really "small town America" and enjoyed by so many.

The bounce house is always a favorite. This time the air went out and the house collapsed on the kids. It was harmless, but they seemed to really enjoy that too.

The "bounce house" is a regular at the park parties and always popular.

This photo shows 6 year old Brooke on the angle rail.

Brooke is only 6 and is happy to show that she can "hang."

Joe is showing his prize for being lucky at winning the cake walk at Emerald Vista Park in Galt.

Joe is only 6 and won a cake.  I asked him about his win and he said, "I think its pretty cool."  I asked if he could win again and his response was, "I think I can if I want to."  He turned down an offer from me to help him cut the cake.  Smart kid for only 6.

Victoria and Karen are showing off the firetruck. The Galt Fire Department had it very clean and shiny.

Victoria (13) and Karen (13) agreed to pose for me at the Galt Fire Department's truck.  They are so reliable in having a truck at each event, thanks.

It was so noisy that I couldn't get anyone's attention to turn around. That is Barry in the red shirt cooking over a hot grill.

Barry volunteered once to be the grill cook.  Now he is stuck with the job, thanks.  Handing out hot dogs will make anyone popular.

This shows proud mother and daughter Hannah who is two years old.

Hannah (2) is so proud to be able to hang by herself for the picture.  I think that mom is too.

Four year old Henry is learing to throw a frisbee for the first time.

This event was the first time that 4 year old Henry got to play with a Frisbee.

The slide is seven year old Jessie's favorite playground toy.

Jessie (8) has her favorite playground slide.  She makes a great pose for the photo.  A future?

Kathia is only three and already loves the swing at Emerald Vista park in Galt, CA.

Kathia (3) was easily convinced to show me that she can swing.

At eight and a half, Madison shows her pleasure by her smile. This grab rail is on a roller. One can grab it and roll along it to the other end. My size is so great that I had to crunch up and hand on. Madison and her friend delighted in giving me a push. I ended up with a sore pinched muscle in my back. It couldn't be age, could it?

Madison (8 1/2) is showing me the rolling slide rail.

This is the best photo I was able to take of the Emerald Vista Park party. Many families were enjoying the food and games.

Another view of the Emerald Vista Park party where many families came to eat and play.

The I Love Galt group, headed by Barbara Payne, organizes these park parties throughout the year.  See the calendar.  Don Haines is our capable park party person.  Email him for more info haines_donald@Yahoo.com or call 209-712-2986.
