This was a block party, work event and meet your neighbor afternoon.
The weather was perfect to get out and enjoy the event. Several dozen
people ate food, met each other and discussed how to improve the neighborhood.
The Smith family offered to adopt the park. Many suggestions were made and
two city council persons were in attendance.

Steve Denton proudly drove the 1948 Chevrolet fire truck.

The workers are l. to r. Brandon Wolff, Brian Nelson, Josh Sarden and B.J.
Jeffries. A large area has newly spread bark.

Many youngsters custom made tiles and Steven Richter is proud of his design.

Dale and Norma Smith with granddaughter. They volunteered to adopt the
park and help keep it neat and tidy. They have lived across the street for
the past 12 years. Dale reported that back when the houses were new, the
neighbors got together and welcomed newcomers to the neighborhood. Now,
everybody is just too busy to "get out" and be social, so this is a great step
in the right direction. Their #1 concern is speeding and the hope is that
something can be done about it. They also hope to help to start a
neighborhood watch committee.
