When the neighbors of Almo Court decided to have a block party,
they invited Spree Court residents. This very friendly group enjoyed a
casual evening of conversation and food. New acquaintances were made and
friendships started.
Barbara Payne called me and asked me to take a few pictures only
a couple of hours in advance. "Will there be chocolate?" I asked.
There was. Thinking that I would know nobody, I wondered how this would
work. It turned out that I knew at least 4 people there and it wouldn't
have mattered anyway, the people were very friendly. This reminded me of
my childhood in Kansas when the neighbors would get together. I highly
recommend it to all neighborhoods. Invite me to take pictures and "bribe
me" with chocolate.

Paul Hagen was the "birthday boy" as his 80th is coming up.
Paul is well known as an active member of the Galt Area Historical Society.

The youngest is Shelby (3) and she is not a "happy camper"
with this picture taking business.

Ernest Perry is the oldest at 90 years. He was born in
San Leandro, Ca. When I asked his age in my attempt to finding the oldest,
he replied, "I am young." His sense of humor is completely intact, as he
was still teasing his wife.

Shelby (14) is just one of a dozen youngsters at the party.
She was a big help with the dog show.

On the right holding a red cup is Barbara Payne. She is
a council person for Galt. She kept busy with residents discussing current
Galt issues.

The youngsters started at the pot luck dinner first.
Several already have an "idea" of their future and were happy to discuss it.

Jan Ellis and Robin Fischer explained to the group the history
of block parties and neighborhood watch. It was agreed to put some energy
back into the neighborhood watch program. Local announcements were made
and discussed.
